Memorial Neurosurgeons use Latest Technology in Robotic Spine Surgery

Posted Date: December 3, 2018

GULFPORT, Miss.—Memorial Hospital at Gulfport is proud to be the first on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to use the Mazor X™ Robotic Guidance Platform in spine surgery cases.

The Mazor X™ Platform integrates and streamlines three complex processes: image-based 3D planning of surgery, intra-operative guidance using precision mechanics, and intra-op verification of therapy placement using the X-Eye camera.

These processes combined give the neurosurgeon better guidance before and during the procedure, resulting in increased surgical accuracy, lower clinical complication rates, reduced pain, and faster recovery and return to daily activities for patients.

Memorial has the only board-certified neurosurgeons on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Our neurosurgeons specialize in minimally invasive techniques to treat disorders of the brain, spine, spinal cord and peripheral nerves.

“The Mazor X system helps patients recover faster and with less pain,” said Dr. Eric Wolfson, Memorial neurosurgeon. “This system is state-of-the-art, and I’m confident it will improve outcomes for many of our spine surgery patients.”

Memorial has established its reputation with advanced technologies and excellence in patient care. With the Mazor X™ Robotic Guidance Platform, Memorial will continue leading in spine surgery excellence.
